I was having the same issue. I write for work, but set a New Years resolution to write once a week outside of work because I felt like I was lacking some fulfillment. Come the end of May, and I’d only posted once with 25+ drafts.

The two things that motivated me to finally get over my fear of pressing “publish” this year are 1) getting other people involved and 2) loss aversion. Instead of trying to motivate just myself, I asked some coworkers to join with me in a challenge to post once a week for a 5-week period. (We used the Spar app, which was useful in setting up $10 penalties for each week one of us failed to write.) The I-don’t-want-to-lose-money element motivated me at first, but now that I’ve gotten over some of the “block” of just sitting down, writing and pressing publish, I really have been enjoying the writing I’ve been doing.

I still have 50+ drafts, but I also have post more than 10 times in the last two months.
